"Yep, Matt sold me on doing this. I dont care for the double outlet, the two set way to far in the middle so you would have a hard time stirring. We have just one outlet and its very close (welded) to the cooler itself. I cool my wart between 10 to…"

"I use this type of setup. It's pretty simple and efficient. You do need a pump and the proper fittings. I only use a false bottom when I am using whole hops. When using pellets I use a pick up tube. "

Might be a nice place to add a randalizer too. Usually I just stir the wort to get a whirlpool going and speed cooling, but I think that has been inviting oxidation to the party. On the downside, I'm not really keen…See More

"Beer is always welcome.  The last meeting we had around 5 kegs and 6 growlers, so we are a festive bunch.  Welcome to DSM and we will be happy to have you in the Club."

"Utah (my current location) just barely legalized homebrewing. Despite that, one night I got a dusk visit from my neighbor clearly concerned about what I was doing, but he didn't get up the gumption to flat out ask me, so I just chatted with him…"

"Matt did a pretty good job of summing up the beer scene.  We really have an exploding craft brew scene in Iowa.  I know when I started coming to our meetings we only had 6-10 people there.  Now we have about 90 members in the club and…"

Hi All, I'm moving to Des Moines in a few weeks (from Salt Lake City), and figured I needed to start off right by joining the brew club. What I'd like to know (in order of importance): Best places for craft beer in town? Decent places to live near the city center (looking for a single family…See More
