This in a AHA Sanctioned competition that IBU holds each year in March. IBU takes entries from all over the country in all Homebrew, mead, and cider categories. Medals are given to the top 3 for each style with a best in show and a special IBU top hoppy beer. The IBU Open is even qualifying for the High Plains Brewer Award. This year the judging is being held at DMACC Culinary Building in Ankeny, IA.

Judging: Saturday, March 12th 2011 beginning at 10:00 a.m

Entry Deadline: Saturday March 5th, 2011

• Entry Fee:  $7 per 2 bottle entry
• Only brown or green unmarked 10-16 oz. bottles accepted.
• Limit of two (2) entries per BJCP category. Each entry must be uniquely different.
• Competition Specific Category: IBU Challenge: For you hopheads, the only requirement for this category is the beer entered must have 1 IBU of bitterness per 1 OG. Example: 1.045 OG must contain no less than 45 International Bittering Units.
• All Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) styles will be accepted including mead and cider. The Director of Judging may combine categories with limited entries if necessary. Style guidelines are available on the Internet at http://www.bjcp.org/2008styles/catdex.php or click here.

• Entries must score a minimum of 25 points in order to win a category.
• Bottles will not be returned.
• Pick up your entry forms at Beer Crazy in Urbandale, IA or download forms here: Bottle Identification Form and Entry Recipe Form
• Please provide payment and Entry Recipe Forms within shipping box or bottle container box. You can make checks out to 'Iowa Brewers Union'.  Have Bottle Entry form attached to bottles with a rubber band.
