We are on the BJCP exam schedule for August 2012. The date is tentative.

I just got word from the BJCP that they have put in place their new testing format. This will affect our upcoming exam. 

The initial test in now an on-line pass/fail test. It should be available sometime after April 1st. You pass that test and you are a Provisional Judge. You then have 1 year to pass the tasting exam.

The second test is the tasting exam, and that is what we are going to host in August. You must pass the online test and provide proof of your score in order to participate in our tasting exam. It is a proctored exam with 6 samples and, depending on your score, you can become an Apprentice, Recognized, or Certified judge. This is a test that can be retaken in order to improve your score and allow you to move up in rank and allow you to go to the next level in judging.

The Third test is an essay test. You have to score at least 80% on the tasting test and have at least 10 judging experience points to qualify. You must pass this test to move up to National and Master judging level. We MAY host an essay test if there are enough qualified/interested parties

I urge everyone interested to review the process at the BJCP website and start studying for the online test. We will arrange study sessions for the tasting test in the next couple of months.
